The front of the cab went on early in January.
Interior view of the insulated boiler shell  that will enclose the steam generator.
A donated locomotive bell is polished on the lathe.  The pattern for the harp is being fabricated in the shop to be cast later in a local foundry.
The 100 gallon saddle tank is being prepared for installation.  The sand dome is welded into place and the sanding mechanism installed.
The main cylinder and steam cylinder valve are covered with 1/8 brass.  Who gets to keep it polished?
Unable to locate a company that would build the propane burner to our specifications, the decision was made to switch fuels.  A commercial  600,000 BTU  oil burner was purchased and installed.
The new harp is back from the foundry and mounted on the saddle tank.
There has been much visible progress since January.  The engine sits in the rail yard for Museum Discovery Day, which is celebrated on the third Sunday of May.
Loaded on a trailer and towed through the streets of Nevada City, the engine was awarded first place in city's 4th of July parade. 
Testing on the burner continues.  Several nozzles are being evaluated to provide an optimal flame. 
The steam generator has been redesigned with the addition of a smaller diameter high velocity coil (left) added to the larger transition coil. 
This cab view shows the Johnson bar and brake lever installed.  The feedwater and steam lines are nearly complete.
